Tom Oakes – Tom was one of the very first students to be accepted onto the Newcastle folk-degree course. He is has just completed his final of study with a sell out concert at The Sage Gateshead and is already widely regarded as one of the best young flute players in Britain today. He has achieved high acclaim from such luminaries as Jean-Michel Veillon, Mike McGoldrick, Brian Finnegan and Niall Keegan, and has recently been working, touring and recording with Button Accordion virtuoso Luke Daniels (Riverdance, De Danaan) and The Solaris String Quartet. Tom has recently toured Northern Sweden with ‘Ethno on the Road’ a pan-european group of musicians hand-selected by Rikonserter (The Swedish concert institute) He is also an accomplished singer and has been highly commended for his work as a solo performer and composer. His debut album ‘Arlo’ will be released in september.
