The Sulphur Children
The Sulphur Children are a fantastic, festival favouring, forty fingered, funky folk family... They are Glasgow based, and are playing throughout the UK this summer. What puts The Sulphur Children ahead of most of their contemporaries is a combination of sheer musical talent with brilliantly crafted songs. Guitarist Drew, and Miranda on Bass, achieve vocal and instrumental harmonies which most bands would kill for, and with the accompaniment of John on Bodhran, and Freya on the fiddle, The Sulphur Children can shift gear from heart-breaking tenderness to foot-stomping punky funkyness. Comparisons are difficult (and perhaps redundant) when describing The Sulphur Children. It is clear that they acknowledge traditional roots, but they add an infectious, modern edge to the sound, with songs that are just damn well-written and played! In the pre-download era 'Cold Heart' would have been a hit
