Hired Geeks formed in the fall of 2000 from the likes of music majors, geeks, mathematicians and scholars. They have perfected an intense original sound and a live show that leaves audiences gawking at the mastery of their instruments: 6-string slap and tap bass, french horn, Superbone (valve/slide combo trombone) and more. A combination of numerous contrasting musical elements characterizes the raw sound of the Hired Geeks and has allowed them to break into multiple genres. The Geeks intricately apply classical-modern musical ideas such as polytonalism and polyrhythmics to modern rock and ska. Rapid verses and complex breakdowns mixed with melodical and memorable choruses create an uncomparable kaleidoscopic atmosphere.
