They do not use pre-recorded backings or midifiles, they actually play their instruments. Quite rare these days! The Smokin' jackets feature drums, bass, guitar, keyboards and vocals and have a self-contained DJ function and can meet any requirement (given sufficient notice). The band first came together when Rich, Matt and Lex met at Matt's birthday party.
Rich was introduced by a friend (Ok OK yes it was you Emma) to Matt and Lex. This resulted in the pooling of solo work done before and the formation of "LiveWire".
The band officially formed in May 2000 when James joined as bassist.
