This modern theatre, built using steel and concrete has elegant and clean lines of design. In 1950 the theatre was refurbished when the original gold and silver decor was painted over in red and candelabras and chandeliers were added!
In 1987 much of the original décor was restored.

Tommy Steele in Half a Sixpence in 1963
Kander and Ebb musical Chicago in the 1970’s
Return to the Forbidden Planet opened in September 1989 and closed in 1993. This show won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
