The eclectic cosmopolitan utilizes not only his first hand experience with Afrobeat’s Yoruba fundamentals; he also has lots of strong influences from funk, jazz and Latin grooves. He is equally sought after as writer, producer, record compilation curator (the fantastic ‘Essential Afrobeat’ 3CD mix), session heavy and – last but not least – heir of the live music throne!

Brass Impact Big Band
Brass Impact! are one of Scotland’s most dynamic jazz ensembles, offering a unique presentation of big band jazz that is entirely new and exciting.
Our unique sound comes from the use of non-traditional big band instruments such as 'forward facing' baritones (providing the trombone voice) and the very distinctive mellophones, which produce a sound similar to that of the mellophoniums used by the Kenton Orchestra in the early 1960's.
Mixed cleverly with the more traditional trumpets and saxophones, the baritones and mellophones allow us to add that extra 'kick' to the big swing numbers, as well as a rich, warm and luscious sound for the most delicate of ballads and vocal arrangements.
Our unique brass sound is fused together with the drive and excitement of our 6 piece rhythm section, with vocalists Pat Keating and Iain Ewing adding the finishing touches to our presentation.
